How DYNA Wood Chippers Perform in the Field, Real Customer Results

Brent Ackley of Ackley Tree Service in Baldwin, Wisconsin has been running a DYNA Vortex chipper processing everything from ash crotches to tough, stringy material. Here’s what he’s seen since making the switch.

What do you like about the Vortex chippers?

This V18-32 had the big wide opening and was able to be towed by a small truck, this just really checked all of the boxes we were looking for.

What problems did you have in the past?

Our old chipper, we had to manually cut crotches that ash trees are known for. One thing that really drew me to this machine was not having to cut the crotches off the wood, this v18-32 chipper we found saves us cutting 25-30% of the crotches we now find. It sucks the crotches right though with no problem at all.

Another problem I had with our old chipper was the vines, strings, buck thorn and prickly ash was that it would plug up and wrap on the feed wheel, this chipper by Dyna, we ran some material through it to see how far it would throw the chips, the middle of the debris field was 45ft away and we had chips 65-70 ft away. This chipper can easily handle the prickly ash, buck thorn, tough material.

What do you think of your chipper so far?

In the time I have been running this. This V18-32 truly outshines our old chipper in so many different ways. I am able to feed bigger stuff through it; this chipper handles it a lot better with the auto feed.

The ability to throw chips out into the woods, we never had that ability before, now doing a job next to a driveway, we are able to throw them 30-40 ft.

Chip quality

I was checking the chip quality on this, for the most part they are ¾ by ¾ inch chips, these are really beautiful chips for a secondary market.

Durability & Quality

I got a tour of the factory, the way this chipper is built, quality wise this is going to make a fantastic machine!
