DYNA Products Paint Operation

Painting is a critical component of any equipment. DYNA equipment looks shiny and new rolling off the assembly line but how well the paint adheres to metal will affect the image and value of any equipment for years to come. After building over 1500 firewood processors we know how important paint is.

The DYNA paint shop consists primarily of a sandblast booth where machines are prepped for painting and a paint booth where the paint is applied. You may think painting to be as simple as pointing and spraying but a closer look will tell a different story. Our painters take just as much time in prep work as actual painting with the tiniest details being crucial to the outcome of finished product. One small detail overlooked in prepping can add hours of labor later. Each batch of paint is measured and mixed on our computerized mixing station for high accuracy and consistency of each drop of paint.

Every frame and part is sandblasted to remove all oil and other surface material from the steel. As the pictures show the steel turns white after blasting. Just touching the whitened  steel with bare hands can cause rust in a matter of hours. After sandblasting the steel is airblasted to remove any particles present from the sandblasting process. They are then inserted in the paint booth and brought to correct temperature before spraying. After painting each piece is baked to insure the paint cures correctly.

Prepping and coating the underneath of the machines is no picnic. Our engineers and fab team worked together in designing and building a custom rotisserie that holds the processor frame securely during blasting and painting. This giant rotisserie turns the entire frame so the entire process can happen without anyone laying on their back to reach the underside of the machine.

Though they work largely in the background behind masks and suits our painters are a very important part of our team. Thanks to each one of you for your role in producing DYNA’S!
